00:00 – Vendee New York – Boris liegt 439 sm zurück auf Platz 10 und bewegt sich im Schneckentempo in nördlicher Richtung.
Wesentlich besser gefällt mir der Kurs von Clarisse. Sie könnte sogar, wenn das Wetter mitspielt – auf Platz 3 vorstossen.
11:00 – Boris‚ VMC beträgt ca. 20 kn, die von Charlie ca. 14 kn. Charlie wird jedoch langsamer werden, wenn der Wind zunehmend spitzer einfallt.

11:00 – Clarisse hat sich wie erwartet an die Spitze der mittleren Gruppe setzen können. Die Südgruppe ist ca. 200 sm vor ihr platziert, bekommt jedoch Gegenwind. Wie das ausgehen wird, liegt in Gottes Hand.
13:00 – YACHT und SR kriegen sich vor Begeisterung kaum noch ein, seitdem Boris mit „Rückenwind“ etwas schneller segelt. Eine besondere Leistung ist dies jedoch keineswegs. Ich denke es ist klüger erst einmal abzuwarten, wie sich die Lage weiter entwickelt. Noch liegt Boris schliesslich 458 sm hinter Charlie.
Ich liebe es zwar, wenn ein grösserer Bogen (Umweg) schneller zum Ziel führt, wie beispielsweise bei der Vendee Globe beim Verlassen des Atlantiks und Eintritt ins Südpolarmeer, aber Boris Kurswahl war mir jetzt doch etwas zu extrem und risikobehaftet.

Leader Dalin goes direct on an uncertain ocean
Dalin continues his fantastic route with “the straightest course in the fleet towards the Vendée”, says Pierre Hays of the race director. His finish is forecast to be between “Saturday evening and Sunday”. Of Herrmann the assistant race director says: “He has a gybe to do to head towards the Vendée then will be downwind towards the finish.” He remains in the match for the places of honor, even if the “Southerners” are virtually ahead. https://www.newyorkvendee.org/en/article/leader-dalin-goes-direct-uncertain-ocean
17:00 – So schnell wie von seinen Fans erhofft, kommt Boris leider nicht voran. Platt vor dem Wind bleibt sein Bus stehen. Er muss also vor dem Wind kreuzen, damit die Segel wirksam angeströmt werden. In den letzten vier Stunden war seine VMC nur 2 kn höher als Charlies‘. Der Tracker zeigt daher immer noch satte 450 sm Rückstand an.
18:00 – Kein Bullrun sondern immer noch 452 sm Rückstand für den deutschen Segelhelden. Ausgang ungewiss !
Staying alert
But anything can happen. Dalin remains on high alert and the best way to remain vigilant is to keep pressing on, “I have been racing against myself for quite a while, always trying to beat my own routing and always following the other as well.” Said Dalin, “I see Boris is going to have some pretty tough conditions for a while, I am carefully following him and I see him probably offshore of Finistere, maybe Brest when I finish.”
He confirmed, “I want to win, I am sailing hard, trying to make the right sail choices and the right course. The other group is good but Boris will emerge quite rapidly at fast downwind angles. I have about 470 miles in hand but that will reduce quite fast. I am keeping an eye on him all the time. Charlie sieht Boris also höchstens bei Finisterre bzw. Brest wenn er die Ziellinie quert.
